Description

With just a handful of fresh ingredients, this watermelon margarita recipe is as simple as it is refreshing. Bonus, it’s the perfect way to use up leftover watermelon!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • 4 ounces tequila blanco
  • 2 teaspoons agave
  • 1 large lime, juiced (about 3 Tablespoons)
  • 1 cup ice (on the rocks margarita only)
  • Tajin (optional), for garnish
  • Watermelon wedge (optional), for garnish

Instructions

Watermelon Margarita on the Rocks

  1. In a blender, add cubed watermelon until the fruit is pureed and smooth (if making batch watermelon margaritas, you may want to do this in batches).
  2. Run a piece of watermelon over the rim of a margarita glass and dip the rim in Tajin chili-lime salt, or margarita salt.
  3. Combine tequila, lime juice, agave and watermelon puree over ice in a cocktail shaker, shake well.
  4. Strain margarita into prepared glass and garnish with a watermelon wedge and serve immediately. Cheers!

Frozen Watermelon Margarita

  1. Freeze watermelon cubes until solid.
  2. Run a piece of watermelon over the rim of a margarita glass and dip the rim in Tajin chili-lime salt, or margarita salt.
  3. In a blender, combine frozen cubed watermelon, tequila, lime juice and agave; blend until smooth.
  4. Pour margarita into prepared glass and garnish with a watermelon wedge and serve immediately. Cheers!

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version of this watermelon margarita, simply use sparkling water in place of tequila for the on-the-rocks version of this margarita. For a frozen non-alcoholic margarita, simply thin out the blended ingredients with water until you get the consistency you desire. It will be like a yummy watermelon smoothie!
